I have a YESS DVB-T4688U (bought Feb 2010), and want to play movies from the USB, or copy movie files from the USB to the internal HDD, and then play them.
I can see JPGs and MP3s but cannot see any movie files that are on the USB memory stick. I have tried .TRP and .TS, as well as the more obvious .AVI, .WMV, .MPEG etc.
Also, copying recorded programs from teh HDD to USB does not give me anything I can access on a PC.
Help please.
(I inadvertently put this question as an article!!)
Many people become confused because they believe "As the unit supports Mpeg2 and Mpeg4 Codecs, I should be able to play AVI and DivX movies back on my PVR". This is not the case. The 4688U PVR (as do all PVRS) only play back Transport Stream Files which are encoded with Mpeg2 and Mpeg4. The DVBT-4688 PVR can only play movies recorded with the DVBT 4688. Movies recorded with the DVBT 4688 PVR can be played back directly on a PC (Depending on your Operating System) or archived onto USB HDD and later copied back to the 4688.
If you wish to play back download movies on your TV. The cheapest way is to purchase a YESS, Asus, Noontec, AStone or DviCo Media Player.
