Q: I have received the PVR and set everything up, including formatting hard drive, connecting loop and connecting to TV but have a problem. When I press record, it says "Failed to Start Record!". I contacted the support people and they said the hard drive is probably not compatible and that I should contact you. Can you please recommend what I should do to get it to start recording.
A: Following are the steps necessary to resolve this problem, if this doesnt work, it indicates a HDD problem. We will gladly replace the unit and all return shipping costs incurred.
1) The first thing to do is turn the unit on so that the TV is displayed on screen.
2) Without pressing anything else, flick the switch at the back of the unit so the unit turns off.
3) After 10 seconds, flick the switch on the back of the unit again so the unit turns on; the unit should load right into TV after around 10 seconds.
4) Press record on your remote. If recording starts, this indicates a synchronization error between the internal HDD and the PVR. This problem should not occur again UNLESS the power is disconnected from the unit (at the plug or via the rear switch) while the unit is in standby( by pressing the Standby button on the remote or the power button on the FRONT of the unit).
5) If recording fails, this indicates a HDD failure. We will need to replace the HDD of the unit. In this case, we will pay for return shipping of the unit and replace the HDD for you. You will need to contact us on 1800 788 502.
